Origin Resources: Books

Books

Here is a list of some books I have read and been helped by.  By no measure have I read all or even most of the good books out there on origins, Intelligent Design or Creationism.  But I get asked about good books and here I will keep a list and perhaps some longer reviews from time to time.

My latest favorite:  The Edge of Evolution, Michael Behe. If you have time to read only one book and have the science background to understand the issue, you can read this book and be done with the whole debate.  There is a limit to evolution which science can now define and Behe has shown what that boundary is and how we can see it.  I love this book.   Warning: Behe is not a young earth creationist and even speaks here about common descent.  I don’t agree with him on either of these issues and the book is not about these issues.  Take from this book what Behe wrote to demonstrate; leave the areas he speculates about with him.

Evolution, a Theory in Crisis, Michael Denton This book really started the Intelligent Design movement.  A great book on why Darwin thought as he did and on what Darwin didn’t know.  Written by an Australian geneticist who was himself questioning Darwinism, it is a great journey with an enquiring mind about why Darwinism may not add up today.

Evidence for a Young Earth, John Morris A book I have read over and over.  Great information related to geology and the flood.  Lots of illustrations and photos, written to be understood by anyone with an interest in the subject.

Bones of Contention, Marvin Lubenow A very good book on the “evidence” for human evolution.  Lubenow does a great job of explaining the world of paleontology and the search of human ancestors as well as reviewing the fossils used to support human evolution.  This book really helped me understand the missing links really are missing.

Refuting Compromise, Jonathan Safarti A book about evidence in the Bible and Science for a young creation.  A very thorough overview of questions regarding age.
